My idea for the Studio Exploration proj.

There's a waterfall I have been going to with friends for a few years now, there's also cliff jumping there.  I have not jumps since just recently.  After I took the risk of jumping, I found myself taking risks in other areas of my life, mainly with my art.
I want to further explore risk taking and possibly gender risk taking.

  1. Michelle,

You have a good starting point. There is a specific place, and you've articulated a specific association with that place. It is crazy how a physical experience can have such a profound effect on your life and your state of mind as well. I think you should run with that focus of risk in your project. You could consider the positive and/or negative outcomes of risk. Risk has such a direct connection to discovery, which I'm sure you've experienced in your art work. In the exploration of gender risk taking, were you considering using yourself or others as a subject? Thinking of different risks men take as opposed to women? Or were you thinking of gender risk-taking in the sense of taking a risk with one's gender, in the sense of transgender. These could both be interesting to consider in your research, maybe even blending the two.
